SWL Logging of Data and Data Presentation

Ever since I started using SDR software on my PC a couple of years ago, I have been on a continuous lookout for software that can compete with how convenient listening to stations on SDR can be. I wanted to get away from writing on paper. These methods explained below are almost all open source software projects.

The first method I can think of that I adopted was literally writing down the station ID, the program name and the date in a college rule notebook. When I had filled a notebook page, I would then take a picture and upload it to Evernote on my phone. This method was the first step in being digital about my notes. The second method of data entry was to scrap the notebook, and use a web based logging tool with virtual logbooks everyone could login to. The software can be found here: . This came to be the largest change and most convenience gained by stepping up the ease of input. The e-logger utilizes a basic web server (apache or nginx) and the data existed offsite on an actual server. I could also host logbooks to other SWLers to use. Regular daily backups of the data was performed and everyone, including me, had great confidence for the availability and integrity of the input.

Last night I stumbled upon some software that I could not pass up for giving it a whirl. You can download this software, for free, at .This software is a project of KB6IBB and is the most useful software I have seen that makes logging your listening as easy as it does. When you execute the program, you may be a bit intimidated at the amount of input it is requiring to log a station. Most of the data fields update on their own when clicked (like time, sun and your contact info that you pre-configure). The sun and atmospheric conditions fields populate automatically from reliable data sources and websites online. Sites that we already use for data anyways. I will just show the end result of monitoring a station with this tool in a screenshot below.
